Graycen Cole
June 4, 2013 – June 25, 2013
So very few, the days ordained
this beautiful child that they named
Graycen Cole, a sister to be
and daughter and granddaughter is she
So tiny, yet so much love from their own
hearts and from above
this wonder, given as a sacred trust, this child
that will always be loved so much
Heart Hero Graycen Cole Sharon is the daughter of Lynsey and Cole and sister to Halle. The Sharon family lives in Omaha, Nebraska. Graycen Cole was born on June 4th after a long and stressful pregnancy. For her family and friends who already loved Graycen so much, there were many unknowns, many doctors’ appointments and many prayers.
Shortly after birth, Graycen was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, in addition to a life-threatening illness called Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome. After finding out that little could be done for Baby Graycen, it became clear that the family’s desire was to have the family all together at home. Graycen lived a remarkable 22 days where she got to experience the love of her family, the gentle touch of her sister, Halle, experience crazy family life and family gatherings, Father’s Day in her daddy’s arms, church on Sunday, and the simple comforts of home. These 22 days were a gift from God and an example of His goodness and miraculous works. God is good!
Until they meet again… Lynsey, Cole and Halle will cherish the time they had with their Amazing Graycen and will forever feel Graycen’s presence in all they do.

I’m so glad I read this email from heartheroes.org. My granddaughter Rylee Pulke was born on February 2, 2013 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
The first procedure to help with this condition was successful, but the day after she suffered a cardiac arrest. She was then placed on ecmo for too many days, it seems. It was beginning to look really bleak and doctors said her only hope was a heart transplant. 2 days after being placed on the transplant list she received a new heart! From the time we were told her only hope was a transplant I stayed in her hospital room for most days and nites. I fought for her and strengthened my Faith beyond words. Our little Rylee was such a fighter! She was doing so great. Then, suddenly, unexpectedly, over night she swelled up mysteriously. Doctors told us they could do nothing more for her and my daughter had to decide to turn off all support for her precious first child, my precious first grandchild. The rest of that terrible, sad day we all sat in Rylee’s hospital room, the only place she knew as her home. We had her baptized and her mommy held her in her lap and I held on to her precious little hand for the last time. Our little angel went to be with God on March 14, 2013. Her precious, short life was spent in that hospital so I am so glad this family was able to take their sweet baby home and away from all of the noise, needles, tubes, etc. That was the greatest gift, in my opinion.

My granddaughter was born in March 2011 with Shone’s Syndrome and had open heart surgery at 5 days old. She was in the NICU for the first 8 weeks but was then allowed to come home. Over the next 11 months, she returned 13 times to the hospital. After another open heart surgery, her heart was weak a pacemaker was inserted. She was able to come home for her first birthday in March 2012 but returned on Easter. A few weeks later, she passed away. March 16, 2011 – April 24, 2012 – the sweetest 13 months of my life.
