Parker J. is a two-year-old Heart Hero from Kearney, Nebraska. Like many kids with heart defects, he has several CHD diagnoses. Parker has Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return (TAPVR), Mesocardia, Transposition of the Great Arteries, Mitral Atresia, and Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV). In TAPVR, the four pulmonary veins do not connect normally to the left atrium. Parker’s surgeries include a repaired TAPVR, delayed sternal wound closure with placement of pulmonary band, pulmonary band revision, and bidirectional Glenn procedure.
Parker never gives up and always wants to learn new things, and these qualities help him overcome his CHD. The Heart Hero Cape is a symbol of strength and survival to Parker’s family. Having a Heart Hero in their lives means to be strong and show Parker how to live everyday without regrets and never take anything for granted.
