- Heart Heroes provides a “Tote of Hope” for every pediatric heart patient having heart surgery at Children’s Nebraska
- Each tote provides families with information on Heart Heroes programs and support groups
- The Totes of Hope remind the families that they are not alone and aims to alleviate some of the burdens by offering comfort, education, and community connection to make their hospital stay and management of a medical condition more tolerable
- All totes are provided to families at no charge

- Children’s Nebraska schedules approximately 400+ heart surgeries a year – each family is offered a Tote of Hope

- Heart Heroes has given out thousands of totes since the program launched in 2022

- Each tote includes, but is not limited to, the following: personal hygiene toiletries, tissues, hand sanitizer, notebook, a superhero mended heart bear, children’s books, playing cards, bubbles, an adult coloring book, markers, refillable water bottle, information on the support available through Heart Heroes, and other items of care to brave the days ahead
